The Hugo House presents the Hugo Literary Series: four evenings of risk and reward, featuring brave new writing commissioned by Hugo House from some of the most exciting local and national writers and musicians working today. The fourth event in the series is themed for Laws of Attraction and will feature the music of Happy Hour Hero in between readings from Marya Sea Kaminski, Phillip Lopate, and Emily Warn.

Now, I know you might be thinking it’ll be a subdued, hushed evening as the poets whisper into the microphone, people sip espresso, and the band gently strums acoustic guitars without first doing the, “Can you hear me in the back?” check. That is not the case. I’ve been to a few of these shows. The readings will be lively, the booze (complete with jello shots) cheap, and the band rocking.
