Sneak Peak! – Subsonic’s 1st B-Day Party
May 13th, 2009
Tomorrow night (Thurs, May 14) we’re gathering up at the Sunset in Ballard to celebrate like a bunch of one-year-olds. (and when I say “we”, I mean “you” too!) Now while I’m not entirely sure if partying like a 1-yr old sounds like an incredible fun time or an incredible uncomfortable time, what I AM sure of is that the place is going to be chock-full of great music and friends we’ve made over the past year.
.
Just in case you missed the reviews and/or recommended shows of the 3 local and masterful bands playing, I’m here to give you s sneak peak of the line-up (in chronological order of course)
.
Opening the night are C-Leb and A-Bro @ 9:00. Jules describes their sound as “edgy and energetic with a touch of darkness to it”. The duo (sometimes trio w/ Bee Simonds on vocals) take electronica and rock and blend it to perfection. For the inside scoop, check out the tale of their last LP here.

Whao-Oh – Broke Downtown – C-Leb n A-Bro

Next up @ 10 are the Liars Club, whom I first noticed on the lineup for the 2008 REVERB fest in Ballard. Since then I’ve seen them play over and over and have never gotten tired. They come with one of the most engaging singers around, growling guitar and bass riffs, and Seattle’s most explosive drummer.

Born on a Friday – Liars Club EP
.
And heading up the night @11 are Celebrity Orphans whose sound is so and rich and meaty, I’m often drawn to compare it to a mighty slab of steak (much to LB’s shagrin.) These guys are lead up by BC Campbell, who is a local musical genius. They came on the radar when they sent their EP in 2007, which instantly became one of my favorites of all time.
