This night covers a pretty huge swath of the music I love in Seattle. Headlining are the Hands who are about the most soulful and rockin bands I’ve ever witnessed. It’s like if the Rolling Stones had gone with a gosspel hour-instead of a weird variety hour-and just cranked the volume to 11 every night. They’ve got a rich throwback garage sound that just reeks of the mossy Seattle underground.
.
Kicking off the night are Sleepy Eyes of Death, whom I think have conjured the perfect method for engulfing an audience in sound. Last I saw them, they were backlit on a stage completely clogged with fog. Removing the visual of the band leaves just the sound. Theirs-described as simply a I can-is a psychedelic version of Kinski, that beats at you in waves.
.
I believe ths is also a KEXP benie but can’t find info on that yet.
