Modest Mouse Starts Tour In Eugene, Skips Seattle; Related BSS Info
February 5th, 2009
Modest Mouse announced some new tour dates today, with the first date being February 21st in Eugene, OR, the last in New York, with none in Seattle in between. Bummer—if you’re a huge fan living in the Pac NW, you might have a road trip in your future. You might’ve heard that Johnny Marr won’t be with the band on this latest tour (due to his recording efforts with the Cribs); Jim Fairchild, formerly of Grandaddy, will be filling in. If you disliked the Smiths guitarist’s addition to you favorite indie band from the Clinton era, well, then you might be smiling. Don’t smile too hard, though, I’m sure his parts will still be played.
.
Mimicking Birds, who’ve recently signed to Isaac Brock’s label Glacial Pace, will be supporting the tour.
.
Amazingly, a few of the dates are already sold out.

In semi-related news, if only because I’ve yet to come to grips with myself for not buying Broken Social Scene tickets for tonight, I stumbled upon this video of Brock playing “The World At Large” with BSS back in November (Kevin Drew on bass! Brendan Canning on keys!). All you blog trolls probably think that’s like, a decade old, but not to this guy. I just found this shit. Would’ve been nice to see “Trucker’s Atlas” or “The Stars Are Projectors” or somethin’, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Ha, you’re right! But only because I couldn’t tell if it was her or Elizabeth Powell (from Land of Talk), who I know has been playing with them recently.
