I’m not nessarily a fan of Amanda Palmer (though I did appreciate her recent bout with her superficial record label who was trying to control the amount of skin she showed in a video, allegedly because they thought she looked “fat”), but I am a big fan of Portland’s rowdy renaissance rockers, the Builders and the Butchers. Gritty, rollicking, and passionate, this band puts on an entertaining set for anyone interested in what a lead mandolin player, two drum kits, an oversized acoustic Rickenbacker bass, and various noisemakers can do for a storytellin’ frontman with an unwavering voice.
