If this show is anything like the one I saw back in May at the Greenhouse, prepare yourself for a burning, yearning, brooding, beating, pounding, bounding, screaming, teaming, riotous, raucous, rambunctious rock show. No kidding. The Chop Suey is intimate enough to feel like you’re right there with the bands, just like I did in that sweaty, hazy basement with these same two bands.

I was only a casual observer of Dead Confederate prior to that experience, but their torrential psychedelic dirge provided a persuasion that made me quickly appreciate the Georgian band’s grungy passion and protracted Americana guitarmanship.
Feral Children, who’ve I’ve admired for a long time now, have one of the most jarring records to jolt the Northwest in recent memory. Their live show is notoriously catastrophic, frenzied and moving (body and mind), and you can’t help but wish for a yellowing skin disease while cooing along with the dudes during the hauntingly epic “Jaundice Giraffe”. Pay special attention to Sergey Posrednikov’s beautifully fractured synth/piano refrains and Josh Gamble’s infiltrating Fender racket. As I wrote once before, this is not feel-good rock for the masses, it’s menacing and malicious noise-rock that’ll blow yer socks right the fuck off.
