Thermals debut new songs and new drummer @ Chop Suey

As many of you may have heard back in March, Lorin Coleman, the drummer for the Thermals of the previous two years, had left the band. The split was a friendly one with Lorin simply leaving The Thermals to pursue other endeavors, one of which is playing in the band Andy Combs and the Moth – A very eccentric and intriguing mix leaning closely to a bossa-nova sound. In the absence of Lorin, remaining members Hutch and Kathy have been piecing together another album each taking turns on the skins. Being that this would be more than a little tough to replicate live, they will be debuting a new drummer, along songs from their upcoming album, when they kick off a short December Tour starting here in Seattle. You can catch them at Chop Suey on Dec 4th. Then they’re off to Portland, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Utrecht, and Groningen!
