Britain’s confusingly-named Fujiya & Miyagi made a name for themselves back in ’06 with an infectious single that playfully outlined—just like that old children’s song—how one’s hip bone is connected to one’s leg bone, eventually working their way up to the fabled collarbone in a deceivingly-catchy pop-electronica format. David Best’s (Miyagi) enigmatically whispered lyrics are something of an anomaly, and his prickly miminalist guitar strokes provide a welcome respite from the soft-and-hard rhythm section of Steve Lewis (Fujiya) and Matt Hainsby (&). Not quite Hot Chip, but not not quite Hot Chip. That’s a double-negative, people.

This year’s Lightbulbs isn’t quite that year’s Transparent Things, the head-bobbin’ quotient a bit lacking, but I promise you their live show will induce just enough bob to make it totally worth your while. Totally.
