Seattle Subsonic Happy Hour – Thurs, Oct 16!!

October 14th, 2008

So, I dunno if $2 can buy happiness, but on Thursday, Oct 16th it can buy you frosty beverages at MOE bar. And you KNOW that frosty beverages can only lead to happiness. Am I right or am I right?
.
I’m right.
.
So, the Seattle Subsonic -Local Music- Happy Hour is happening again from 5-8, this time in rare form. It’s no coincidence that directly following Happy Hour there is a free concert right there at Neumos with The Cops, Saturday Knights, and Mono in VCF. It’s invite only so if you want on the list, email promo@neumos.com with “RSVP to SATURDAY KNIGHTS” in the subject line. It’s a pretty kickass lineup-and I’m not sure if the concert is a great capper to happy hour hour or if happy hour is a great primer to the show. Either way, I’m in for both.
.
Joining us this month will be local label-and friends-Sarathan Records. Sarathan is a genuine local Seattle label founded in 2000, by Jonathan Kochmer, in genuine Seattle start-up fashion. Coming from busking and living in a Subaru, to working as Amazon’s 9th employee, Jonathan represents all that is quintessential Seattle, including being 1/2 of the haunting and hypnotic Two Loons for Tea – the reason for the, then, fledgling label. Sarathan RecordsSarathan Records also represent Subsonic favorites, War Tapes, Feral Children, The Purrs, and many others. And they’re coming with arm-fulls of CDs, T’s and other shwag to give out. You can check out a mix-tape sampling their music with this link here.
(note: the Purrs are no longer represented, but they’re still favorites..)
.

Also in attendance will be members of several local bands, other music industry peeps, and of course, the writers from your favorite music site, Seattle Subsonic.
.

So, come rub elbows with musicians from all over the Seattle spectrum, meet the folks that keep Sarathan pumping out great albums and and hang with we, the meager writers of Subsonic and make it out with a buzz, most of your money, ringing ears and tons of goodies.

MOST righteous. Hey, can’t $2 also buy one of those giant pixie sticks made solely for the purpose of getting little kids “high”? I think it might. That was once happiness in my book.

Can’t say how many pixie stix $2 can getcha, but it CAN get you a pound of sugar and 4 Kool-Aid packets. Being grown up has the advantage of cars and grocery stores…

    One small correction…
The Purrs are not represented by Sarathan and haven’t been for at least a year and a half.

Hmmm. Home made pixie sticks don’t taste the same. Some sort of proprietary blend is used I think. We’ll talk more about this thursday night.

Ah yes, it’s been a while since we’ve heard from the Purrs. Back to the NWMB days.
The Purrs are officially free agents. My apologies for the inclusion.

Crack helps the magic of pixies taste even better… With your feet in the air, your face hits the ground.

Best happy hour yet. The evening was perfectly capped off at the Camel VIP lounge(by VIP I mean I was willing to sell my firstborn child to the Camel tobacco co.) watching The Cops play a captivating set.

Yes, We had a frickin’ Blast. We did have to offer Kidneys to get into the VIP but the good people at Camel were content with buying one of our two sickened lungs. Kevin, you throw a pretty good party.

Happy Hour WAS a blast everyone, thanks for coming out. Be there fof the third thurs of Nov!!
As far as the free concert goes, I feel bamboozled. What a GREAT 3 hour ad for the shit jockeys, Camel. complete with hypnotic pillars. Had I known the fucking Cancer Mongers were throwing the party I wouldn’t have ever mentioned it.
