Mono in VCF, A Place to Bury Strangers @ El Corazon

I haven’t seen either of these bands live, but Tacoma’s Mono In VCF has recently entered my “infamous” watch list. The band has garnered some attention in places like NPR and the P-I, but honestly, I hadn’t heard of them until a few months ago. I really like the grandiosity of their psychedelic soul pop, which sounds both vintage and modern at the same time. Vocalist Kim Miller has a classic voice that reminds me a tad of Nancy Sinatra or Skye Edwards (formerly of Morcheeba).

Their sound should go well with the sleek, gothic machinations of Brooklyn’s A Place to Bury Strangers. Dark bands for a dark venue.
