Ah, the Cave Singers. I’ve really had it in for this band ever since their debut hit my ears last year (it even made my Top 5—whoa), and the raspy, hallucinogenic musings of Pete Quirk seem to fit just fine with me on my (virtual) back porch. Add in a healthy dollop of Derek Fudesco pluckin’ his way to the river bank and Master Lund manning the percussion, and you’ve got a match made in Tennessee Heaven.
And, Super Double Bonus: the spelunking singers just added a couple of “Rough Demos” to their myspace. They are rough, but they still sound good. I’ve heard them play the new stuff a few times recently (CH Block Party, a private party at the War Room), and it sounded awesome. I love the direction they’re going.
I’m not that familiar with Calexico, but LeDon’t said they are the best band he’s ever seen live. That’s gotta count for something, right?
