Have you heard of the Q-Cafe?
Neither had I until yesterday, and now I’m curious to check it out. Nestled on the Interbay just south of the Ballard Bridge, the Q-Cafe, in their own words “is a non-profit neighborhood cafe in Seattle featuring direct trade espresso [Stumptown Coffee] and tea, art, live music, and community events.”
Their upcoming calendar features local artists as familiar and respectable as Tiny Vipers (read more on TV here) and Damien Jurado. Next Saturday in fact, Jurado will be representing under his alternate gig, Hoquiam (the band consists of Jurado and his brother Drake). Also on the bill are locals Pickwick (it’s their CD release show) and SFO’s Winter’s Fall. The lineup for the most part will provide for a mellow evening; both Hoquiam and Pickwick are acoustic, ambient and melodramatic. Winter’s Fall’s alt-country tunes are sure to stir things up however, adding a little spice and speed to the mix. (Pssst.. listen to the song “Blame” on WF’s myspace. A very fine tune).
